In this competition/elimination series, special effects make-up artists participate in elaborate challenges for a grand prize and the honor of being Hollywood's next great effects artist.

1. Wanted Dead or Alive
Season 10 begins with the 14 competing artists working in teams of two to create alien bounty hunters.
2. Child's Play
Paul Reubens appears when the artists work in teams to create a whimsical makeup based on an oversized toy.
3. Lost Languages
The remaining 12 artists team up to create a member of a long-lost race inspired by unique languages created by "Game of Thrones" linguist David Peterson.
4. Covert Characters
For their first individual challenge, the artists must create realistic disguise makeups for "secret agents".
5. Foreign Bodies
Working in teams of two, the artists must create slime as inspiration for the spotlight challenge. The winning team receives immunity.
6. Death's Doorstep
The artists must create whimsical ghost characters based on unique obituaries.
7. The Gauntlet II
It's back. Three rounds of foundation challenges. Who will survive?
8. Smoke and Mirrors
The artists must transform beautiful, yet evil sorceresses into their hideous true self.
9. Bottled Up
Unique vessels provide the inspiration when the artists face the challenge of creating mischievous genie characters.
10. Keep One Eye Open
The artists create unique Cyclops characters in the Focus Challenge; guest judge Douglas Smith.
11. The Art of Warcraft
Characters from the World of Warcraft game come to life by the remaining artists who create realistic characters for the 2016 film adaptation, which stars guest judge Robert Kazinsky.
12. Skull Island: Reign of Kong
Artists create an indigenous species that would live on King Kong's Skull Island.
13. Sinister Showdown: Part 1
The artists must create two characters that would be part of a horror film: one demonic character and one possessed character. Three different directors with different scripts of the film named "Hell Hole" will work with each artist. Eliminated contestants will also aid the finalists during the challenge. On the first part of the challenge, the artists create their characters to later get feedback from their directors on what to improve on during a lighting test.
14. Sinister Showdown: Part 2
After revising their makeups with their directors, the artists improve their characters in order to get them ready for filming.
