Natsume Takashi has the ability to see spirits, which he has long kept secret. However, once he inherits a strange book that belonged to his deceased grandmother, Reiko, he discovers the reason why spirits surround him.

Nyanko-sensei runs away from Natsume to chase a dragonfly. He finds himself stuck with two young children on their first errand. He keeps trying to leave, but the area of the forest they're in is filled with dangerous youkai. Can he help them complete their errand, while still retaining his sanity?
7. On a Certain Snowy Day
As the first delicate snowflake touches the cold ground, Nyanko-sensei dozes on his hot-water bottle next to Takashi Natsume. While his aunt prepares a warm dinner, Natsume takes a walk, welcoming the snow and the chilly weather. However, his peaceful promenade is disturbed by a white, fluffy snowman yokai with perturbing black eyes, searching for something warm and sparkly. With no further information, Natsume sets off to help find what the spirit desires.

Natsume helps a traveler couple revive their legendary sake cups, uncovering a heartwarming tale of love.

While searching for Nyanko-sensei, Natsume gets invovled in a dangerous game of hide and seek.
10. The Stump of the Suzunaru Tree
Natsume encounters an old man who asks for help with getting home. The old man turns out to be a yokai who will soon disappear and he asks Natsume to help him to fulfill a promise that he had made.

In a dream-like forest, Tamami meets talking creatures and seeks a mysterious owl, revealing a magical world.
12. Ichiban Kuji Natsume Yuujinchou: Nyanko-sensei to Hana Shirabe
Kogitsune tells Nyanko-sensei the meanings of different flowers and assembles a bouquet as a gift for Natsume.
13. A Day Out in Hitoyoshi Kuma
Takashi Natsume and his loyal feline protector Madara take a trip to Hitoyoshi Kuma, a peaceful area in Kumamoto. From admiring the Kaname Falls to relaxing at the Tsurukame hot spring, the duo unwind and take in the beautiful scenery throughout the eventful day.

A young Natori falls victim to his inexperience and, after a curious encounter, receives unexpected help.
